Searched the forum and did not see this topic? May not have dug deep enough? Anyway, was wondering if the turbo motor and trans out of the new boxster will fit in a 914 without totally re-engineering the car. Know anything is possible, just curious if it has been done?

Thinking there may be engines available from the Houston area. No disrespect for those that lost so much in the terrible flooding. What happens to all the cars that were on dealer lots (of course would have to drain and flush engine and transaxle).

If it's similar to the width of a Boxster six cylinder, it's too wide to fit unless there's major modifications to the car.

I would expect Porsche would take them back and crush them. Bad for their rep to have flooded cars on the market plus they would technically still be under warranty.

If you get serious call the dealer & Porsche and ask if you can get one for prototyping something.

I'm pretty sure the four-banger motors are still too new for them to trickle down into the hands of 914 engine swappers. And too expensive.

Would be an interesting alternative, though! It'd be all Porsche, and eligible for PCA events no problem. And depending where the width is versus the length, it could fit rather better than the water-cooled six does.
