1974 Porsche 2.0L, Phoenix Red
Its time she goes. Considered a 6 conversion (my next purchase) however she's too nice the way she is. Absolutely spectacular condition with original paint/interior (paint verified) and approx: 45,000 miles Original #1: Doug Slayback 1974-2002 Owner #2: Jim Chambers 2002-2005 Broker #3: Camp914 2005-2007 Owner #4 Tim Hench 2007-2010 Owner #5 Me 2010 – current Details (most work/upgrades performed during my ownership): • Stainless steel brake lines • Fuel tank removed/cleaned • New/relocated fuel pump • Dual Weber 40IDF carbs (recently rebuilt) w/ matched cam • New Bosch 050 distributor, plugs/wires • New starter motor • New accelerator and clutch cables • Koni adjustable shocks • Bursch exhaust • New poly bronze bushings frt/rr • Brakes/rotors less than 5K miles use • Recent service including valve adjustment • Recent alignment • Weltmeister short shift kit • Authentic COCO floor mats Non matching #'s. Car started out life as 1.8 L. Was replaced with 2.0 L in 2002. This is my 3rd 914. My first in 1982, the year I graduated HS. This is the nicest example I've seen in person. Car is located in Maryland, between Balt and DC. $25k [attachmentid=620 080][attachmentid =620076] Attached thumbnail(s) Attached image(s) |

If that's Jim Chambers former Phoenix Red, its spectacular. I seriously doubt Jim changed the engine, but you can find him over on the 928 Rennlist site to ask him personally.

It really is spectacular and well sorted. I'll try to connect with Jim. Would love to get more of the back story. All I have is what Camp shared. Thank you |

Car looks awesome. I hope you get your price! These things cost too much for us to sell them for less, but the competition is tough! By that I mean, take a test ride in a new Miata, known as the MX6 here in Europe. For something like $5,000 less or more than that people can get a 160 ps 200 nm of torque in a BRAND NEW car that kicks the crap out of our 914s. Or a nice Boxter for that matter! Naturally I'm mixing apples with oranges here, but it's the reality of the marketplace. Supply and demand determine price. Demand is low for our cars, indeed, VERY, VERY LOW. BUT! Supply is even lower! And of cars in the shape of this one, far lower still, obviously. My black 914 has cost me more than your asking price and isn't in this kind of shape. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) My son is quasi 'nauseated' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) by how much I've spent to get so little car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) But alas! When I drive my black & chrome 914 with bursch exhaust through downtown Munich my car clearly turns more heads than, literally, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) any other Porsche in this great down at the foot of the Alps. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) So be proud! Your car rocks and I hope someone takes it for your price ASAP. That would be good for all of us. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) GLWTS. M.i.M. |

Photo with the 916 bumpers..... Had them on my 73' back in the 80's. Went well with the mullet;-) You say bumpers here with an 's' but there's only one photo. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I have a 916 clone and happen to be fond of how these cars look from the rear as well as the front. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Connected with 2nd owner Jim Chambers. Thanks for the lead. Great guy who was able to offer more detail on the wonderful history of the car affectionately known as "Tennessee 914"

Enjoyed re-living my time with that car and sending what I have to Bill.
He said it was listed here so I took a look. Really took me back, and almost drew a tear, to see comments from Ferg (Mike Ferguson) and Jeff Bowlsby. Remembering you two makes me want to buy another 914 and join the "World" again. Great times with great people. |

This is one clean ass car. Only issue is it did not come with a 2.0 but it looks brand new and that makes it a super deal.
