I don't know how it is other places, but for me, the "deliver with no issues" rate for FedEx Ground service is maybe 65%. I've had packages misrouted, packages that sit for as much as 48 hours in a distribution center somewhere along the way, and packages that the route driver "delivers" somewhere else.
The last is the worst, because then I have to contact FedEx to have them contact the driver to figure out whose front door he left it by. FedEx initiates the contact with the driver (who is not a FedEx employee, but an independent contractor), but he has 2 days (?) to respond. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) To those of you who are vendors and ship via FedEx Ground, why? Are they that much cheaper than UPS? Trust me, I would pay a couple bucks extra to not have to deal with FedEx Ground. OK, rant over... |

For over 1000 EBay sales 99% of the time I use USPS Flat Rate boxes. No issues and tracking is reasonable current and accurate.
I had Fed Ex smash a well packed box which bent the contents. That item was double boxed and had 2 inches of foam rubber between the inner box and outer one . . I insuring it for $2000 . . I filed a claim and was told the breakage was "cause by insufficient sender packing", despite distinct crush marks on the outer carton. . Even after a complaint and a TV Newsroom help hotline intervention , they maintained it would have been prevented if it had been 'better packed' . . . seems that is a common answer by them. |

UPS does the same thing, when you make a claim they deny it within 24 hours saying the same thing, "used box". I always keep a receipt for new boxes around and email that, then they usually honor the claim. But think of all the people who just shrug when UPS claims this. |
