I'm running in the Peekskill Grand Prix! Options

What?
The Milea Truck and Auto Group Vintage Grand Prix is designed to be a signature event for the Gateway Chamber of Commerce and the entire Hudson Valley region. The PVGP will be the first of many events that will grow to become, Hudson Valley Car Week. The PVGP is not a race. It is not a car show. It is not a rally. It is something very different and something very unique. It is being branded as a “Motoring Event”.
Vintage autos will be given an allotment of time within a certain class of autos to travel around the course which is being laid out to go directly through downtown Peekskill and to pass along the magnificent river front. Cars will be spaced out as they are let onto the course at controlled intervals. This is not a race. There is no timing. There are no trophies. It’s not a competition. It is an opportunity for drivers of these vintage machines to put these cars through their paces unencumbered by street lights and stop signs. And it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the public to come and watch these magnificent autos do what they were designed to do. DRIVE. All free of charge.
Our Chamber never tires of promoting and supporting everything the Gateway Region offers, and to that end we are proud to be the driving force behind the inaugural The Milea Truck and Auto Group Vintage Grand Prix.

I had hoped to run the 914, it's been a lot of fun this year autocrossing, but they had a pre 1964 rule, trying to make it really vintage.

Wow, what a fun day. Driving full out through city streets is really fun. Two other 356's made it out, Chris Smith from New jersey in his 59 A Coupe and Ken Taplin came all the way from Maine in his 59 Convertible D. The three of us had about as much fun as you can in a 356. I'm hoping to get a whole Porsche group together for next year and all run together. They broke the cars up into divisions, we were running against early Asian cars as well a mix of European cars. There was also an American Thunder Group, as well as a British Invasion. Everyone had a great time, can't wait for next year!

Not much competition with Asian cars until the Z in 1970 unless I'm forgetting something? The 356 crowd must have done well in that group?

The only thing that passed me was two Z cars, a father and son with something to prove!

It was the first one and in order to get to the 50 cars, they relaxed the rules, ended up with 57 cars.

Wow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) no way most 356's can compete in a speed event with most Z cars. Too bad.

Owning both a Z and a 914, I can say that they are pretty evenly matched. The 914 handles better, but the Z has more leg. I'll bet it was fun though...
