When I was a kid I dreamed of driving this. Got within a couple of feet walking in the pits at Sovren. Talk about a boost to my mid life crisis

I loved the GTs. I use to build models of them, draw them class, and read about 'em in every car mag.

That is until the 917 came along...

I think I know that guy, the owner named Chuck?

It it is he has a 41k mile -6 with a setup like that on the front to flat tow it to the track for DE's.
Last I knew he was in SoCal.

If it's not Chuck, I think it's Chuck's car. He was thinking about buying a conversion -6 for the track and selling the real -6.

I went to the races yesterday. I had a great time, the highlight was seeing the 910 in action. Those Lola's sure kicked ass though! Emory's fleet from Parts Obsolete was amazing as well.

Is that flared rear fenders on the 914?

Thanks for the pics, keeps me in mind of the racing heritage.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

If it's Chuck's car, and I'm pretty certain it is, then he is running 16x 6&7 and the lips were pulled slightly and it is a respray of the original color. There was the slightest bit of overspray, but it is truly a beautiful car.

about 5 years ago a mustang puked an engine at the start of the front straight. this same gt-40 was a ways behind it. ass came around. slid about 100 yrds down the track and went sideways into the jersey barrier. the collective groan from the crowd was audible.

Man almost too much. If my wife was worried about me turning into a car geek, yesterday about put me over the top. Too bad the guy didn't really drive it. It looked like he didn't want to rub paint with the rest of the Corvettes and Mustangs (can't say I blame him a bit). But, what must it feel like to have a car like that under ya. Gotta want to make ya put your foot in it. Still, fun to see it out for a Saturday drive.

hey dave
if you can wait about a year longer you will be able to buy a new gt
ford is in pre production as we speak
i have a good bud who works for the shelby development team and they got several hours with one of the protoypes in order to evaluate the drive train
his comment to me was quote " Im saving my money"
if gorden was impresed you can be sure ford is doing it right
gordos track car is a supercharged 700 hp+ ac cobra and it takes a lot to impress him

I've got enough to do sorting out my 914. Then I have to learn to drive it. I'd be really content learning to get the most I can out of my car.GT 40's to much car for me now, still it was a real thrill to see one up close.

I saw the blurb on the new Ford GT. Maybe it will encourage other companies to go retro. Maybe we could hope for a throwback Porsche.

As a kid, my favorite of the Ford GT's was the Mk-II J Car, if only because I had an Aurora HO set with one of them. That's before Jim Hall's Chaparral 2J "Sucker Car" and ELF/Tyrells 6-wheelers came along.

NOW I find out that this car is worth a mint to collectors. "Hello, Mom? Pops? Tell me that box of car toys & stuff is still up in the attic, huh?"
