Narrow or stock body fenders Car , 4 bolt real fuchs or 2liter wheels

Has 195/60r 15 on it now
Netto touring front (still tread enough but are like 8 years old )
Continental touring rear ( tread is pretty low also old but in good shape)

I beginning to realize a tire failure on these cars could be especially dangerous

Cause lets face it a 914 gets driven harder then
A toyota

I dont want to roll the fender lips and the clearance with current tire size is already tight

Budget pretty wide open since i want something reliable or high quality ?

See whats available in 195x65x15 or 205x60x15 unless you like the size you have. Both should fit a stock car with 2.0 Fuchs. Between whats available and some online reviews, you should be able to narrow it down pretty quickly.

I bought Firestone Firehawk AS tires last week that still need to get mounted, but there is feedback about them and others in the thread below. They are one of a small group of "high performance all season" tires in 195/65 R15 and the tire rack reviews are pretty good. There are a few other similar tires on the tire rack in this size.

We have a tire rack warehouse close by so we can pick up. They give shops a 15-20% discount so almost all our tires come from the rack.

Tire Rack is a great source and can have the tires drop shipped to your local tire store. They also have(had?) a list of recommended installers.

I’m running 195/65-15 on my car and have been quite happy with that size and looks.

Conti Pro Contacts on mine. P195/65R15. They work fine, look right on my car and they're not expensive.

I have always had good luck with Tire Rack going back many years. Reviews on their site are accurate and even if you don't use them, they're a good place to check prices.

205/60s look a little like donuts on a 4 lug Fuchs wheel. My 6 x 15 five lug wheels hold the tire width better.

195s might be the call?

I'm running Yokohamas.

I agonized over sizes for a couple months. Did the research*, used all the tire calcs, so forth. Decided to go with Firehawk AS 195/60-15 as a compromise between the theoretically optimal size and some performance.

I've driven around several hundred miles recently, comparing indicated speedo to a GPS app for actual speed. With these tires the difference is less than 5%. For example, at a GPS-indicated speed of 72, I'm apparently actually doing 69 mph. Close enough for gov't work.

I'm using a recently-installed, known-good 120mph speedo I got from Garrold. Your miles-per-hour may vary... lol.

*From various source, our original 15" size was "165R15"? What, did we carry them on a pin mounted to a rack just behind the front fender, with a couple of "tire irons" held on with buckled-leather straps...?

Closest is apparently 195/65-15.

While 205 width tires are rated as ok on 5.5” wheels, they look too pinched on a wheel that narrow to me. I did like how the 195/65-15 fit both the car and the wheels.

From what I recall, these are ever so slightly taller than a 165-85-15

What, no side view mirror strapped to the top of the spare tire?

I decided to run Pirelli P4 195-65-15's on mine. Like one of the posters above, I figured it would be a good cross between performance and ride.

On tire rack, they are only $98.00 a piece as well.
