Not cheap at Pelican!

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearc...on=engine+stand

I need one, but cannot justify anywhere near those prices for something I might only use once.

Looks like new it could be as much as a 600 dollar combo..

Used has to much less. Mine is probably 30 years old.. I bought it used 20 years ago..

I'm guessing the cutout on the tab on the left hand side is for the tool that holds the flywheel from spinning?

Yes, and it's reversible to fit Porsche 12 v or VW / Porsche 6 v flywheels....if...

^Neat, there is really cheap looking VW yoke and stand on local CL right now for $80, too bad it is 1.5 hour away one way ... don't think I'd trust this cheaper one with a /6 engine for sure (listed as VW Type I and 912)

EBay 5 arm stand for $130 with shipping. Someone could buy a roll stand from a local store for cheep. That is what I did no my last rebuild. The 6 eng did not fall down.

So what is yours worth? If a guy was a pro he would have a good one like yours (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

For reference, i just bought a 5 arm P201 along with a used harbor freight engine stand for 200 on the bird not too long ago , I think it was a good deal. I didn’t realize the “new”prices had gone up that much, for some reason I remember a new five arm costing around 275-300.

Thanks I just came up with a price of 325 in the classifieds and 375 on the bird board. We will see what happens.

It’s a great deal. Buy it, use it and then sell it for what you paid.

There is an $80 one nut it is not made right and you can not install all the tin on a Type IV motor with out interference. The expensive one is made correct. I have the cheap one and it works.
