I'm running carbs and have one head with a vent tube that will run into an oil catch can/bottle.
I don't have an original 914 oil filler tower (or whatever it's called) but I received this one from a friend that must have come from either a bus or squareback. Would I be better off sourcing a PCV version? My catch bottle - |

The case needs to be ventilated. Venting JUST though the heads will force air to travel from the case up through the pushrod tubes to the heads. This airflow can interfere with oil flowing from the heads to the case -- especially at high RPM.
There are at least 4 different versions of that part I can think of right now. Any of the others will work. It doesn't need to be a truly P ositive C rankcase V entilation system, just CV. |

That's what I needed to know!
Thanks Mark. |
