I didn't protect the windshield when I trimmed "some" of the cage away from inside the 914. I used a grinder and threw the sparks all over the windshield "all willy-nilly". I'm guessing the glass is pitted from this. I mean I can remove most of it with a really sharp razor blade but it's kind of hard..is there anything I can use to soften it up first?

This happened to me when I was welding. The only real fix was new glass. The sparks had melted small imperfections in the glass, and I couldn't get it out with clay blocking.

Sorry. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

Crap. I'm in this boat too, but with the back window. I pitted it when grinding my battery-tray area. Guess it's going to stay that way unless I replace it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

I have a spare windshield in the dog house. I was going to use it when I put a windshield back on the German 8 Tor but I can use a not so perfect one. You can look it over if you want to swap it out with the one on your car. Let me know Larry
