hi,
I reinstalled my head, and changed my pushrod tube seals (viton), and I am going to adjust my valves. I see a zero on the fan under the inspection cap...is this TDC for #1+#3?...i8o degrees out I see a tick mark on the flywheel under the tranny...is this TDC for #2+#4? my distributor is out of the car so I am doing it this way... I adjusted #1, rotated the engine and valves were very loose, I readjusted them, rotated the engine and they were fine....adjusted the valves on #2 (tick mark under tranny) rotated the engine, the valves were very loose...readjusted them, rotated the engine and they were tight (no clearance)....any suggestions thanks (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Joe |

When I get tired of putzing with the marks, I simply do an "opposite valve" procedure. When a valve is fully open on one side, I adjust it's opposite...each lobe operates two valves. Takes a little longer, but I don't have to rely on marks.

Joe, just not sure what you are asking for...previous post gave you a method without regard to timing marks (they can be off anyway) Do a search.,....Cap'n Krusty wrote a whole thread about his method. |
