On the SC's there's a high and low mark, and right in the middle is fine. Any marks on yours?

Only one mark on the dip stick. I pulled another one just to compare the tow skicks and aside from rust they are the same.

Yes, absolutly.
I run half way between the marks *hot* & running or it will just pump out the excess. When cold it just barely shows on the stick.

P.J. It does a good job of pumping it out. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) The ink pen is pointing to the dot that is the only mark I can see on either stick.

Mine is a straight (flat) rod--no bends except for the finger grip at the top. Low punch mark is 1 1/8" from bottom and high punch mark is 3 5/8" from the bottom. This is a 3.0 litre. Rod part number is 930.107.731.00.

The Haynes manual shows a dipstick similar to the ones pictured, but with one less bend in it, so I'm not certain. You might ask in the 911 Pelican Forum, and get someone with the same displacement to answer. My car isn't a 930, but uses a 930 part number. This isn't uncommon, but I'm not certain it's the original dipstick either.

I figured that it would seek its own level by puking all over and thats whats happening.
I like the wet look in the engine bay, all nice and shiny, just don't touch anything. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

You could drain some oil out of the tank. A three litre holds about 11 quarts, but initially you put in about 8 and run the engine to suck the oil through it. Doesn't hurt it for brief periods.

The Haynes only shows the /4 but there's a similar manual published by Cypress that covers the six. They show the exact same dipstick, the min mark is the bottom of the stick and max is the mark just above the lower bend.
