At last, I completed the tune-up on my '71. Had a bad vac advance and had to order that part. Got it at last and was able to complete everything. Boy, does that ever make a difference. Instant throtle response and it will get on down the road. When I got the car it would bearly get out of its own way. I know it is only a 1.7 but, considering that, it will move it right on out. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) Still need to do a bit more fine tuning with the dwell and timing and it should run even better. (Cann't believe the hoops you have to jump through to adj the dwell (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) )

Auto Atlanta. Don't believe that PP had them. AA was cheaper than the local parts house who would still have had to order them. tom... |

1) rotate distributor body until rubbing block is on high spot of cam. 2) adjust points gap to 0,016" 3) reset timing to book value. done. a points-replacement module (i have one) means you don't have to do even that, but i'm really hard-pressed to find much in the way of oppressive hoops in that procedure... |

Just that I have gotten use to the chevy distributor where you just use an allen wrench to adjust the dwell while the car is running. A much better enginered solution (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
Would you believe 13 mpg (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
Also have an '04 Vette convertible and it get 29 mpg on the highway. Figure it is my highway econo car. And that is cruising at 80-85. tom... |
