At last, I completed the tune-up on my '71. Had a bad vac advance and had to order that part. Got it at last and was able to complete everything. Boy, does that ever make a difference. Instant throtle response and it will get on down the road. When I got the car it would bearly get out of its own way. I know it is only a 1.7 but, considering that, it will move it right on out. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) Still need to do a bit more fine tuning with the dwell and timing and it should run even better. (Cann't believe the hoops you have to jump through to adj the dwell (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) )

Auto Atlanta. Don't believe that PP had them. AA was cheaper than the local parts house who would still have had to order them.

(Can't believe the hoops you have to jump through to adj the dwell )

1) rotate distributor body until rubbing block is on high spot of cam.
2) adjust points gap to 0,016"
3) reset timing to book value.

done.

a points-replacement module (i have one) means you don't have to do even that, but i'm really hard-pressed to find much in the way of oppressive hoops in that procedure...

Just that I have gotten use to the chevy distributor where you just use an allen wrench to adjust the dwell while the car is running. A much better enginered solution (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Also have an '04 Vette convertible and it get 29 mpg on the highway. Figure it is my highway econo car. And that is cruising at 80-85.
