I've got an old set of headers that I'm trying to identify, clean up and use. Other than having surface rust, they appear to be in good condition, but I don't have the stub pipes for them. Can anyone help me identify them or possibly even have stub pipes that will fit them? These headers are off of a 1.8 F-Production engine. Thanks.Attached Image Attached Image

Looks similar to something that we used to use

I think it was built as European Header

Any idea if you can use other brand stub tubes with these? I’m guessin that these could be from the 80’s or 90’s??

Check with Chris Foley at Tangerine....he should know and likely be able to supply a set of stub pipes for you.....

They are the
European racing brand
Made in the us
Sold through many shops
But I believe they used to be sold direct also
I’m sure you can contact them
I think ithe owner is George out of Nevada.
But it’s been years so that could be wrong

Gt racing has them on their website. Others too

Here

Thanks for the information! Any idea about performance compared to other headers? This has the mega phone and I’m not sure if the DB level will allow it to be used.

CFR headers are better
these are 2nd best
and Kerry Hunter 3rd

(that is my opinion... not a dyno.. I pick the euro headers over Kerry's because of stub pipes and ease of installation. Kerry is a nice guy)

you can build any exhaust. The megaphone isn't a good choice in my opinion. I'd look for a phase9 muffler or chris will have the best thing for it! We used to us straight pipe or a similar muffler to phase9

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to look into a few different option and see what the budget allows. Is there anyone running SCCA F-production in a 914 anymore?

Not able to answer about FP

But why not vintage racing?

There are lots of 914s running in vintage series these days but very few active in SCCA road racing.
I think Albert Correia in CA is still running, and Pedro Rivera in Fl, but I can't think of anyone else entering SCCA races right now.
My car is still parked, and may be up for sale in the next couple years. It could be nationally competitive in the right hands, but that takes a budget bigger than I'll ever have.

I may consider vintage, but most of my experience is with SCCA. My 914 is a 1970. It had been raced from 1971 thru 2002 in F & E Production. I carb fire sidelined the car until I purchased it about 2 years ago from the original owner and now I'm in the process of putting it back together. Currently has a 1.8 and would run F-Prod. I'm sure that it would qualify for vintage, as I have all of the log books/records dating back to 1971. One of my issues is that my budget is limited and my projects are many.

I'm guessing that the "cost" of vintage is just about the same as the race fee's and expenses for SCCA.

the competition might be less, but that there are always excellent drivers in either group and you can always find someone in vintage who will challenge you as a driver and that you get to play with.

the 914 is increasingly a better and better vintage car
especially the 4 cylinder cars as the scca put left them more competitive in the 70's when compared to the competition...... than the -6 cylinders were as the 70's progressed.

when I started vintage racing there were 2 914's in my local club.
now there are about 8

so on a good weekend, there are usually about 3-4 other 914's in an event
I enjoy the variety of cars
it seems that which ever sanctioning body has momentum for the group/type of cars you want to play with (and thus better turn out for those type of cars).... becomes the fun place to play.

I think for these old 914's that vintage is gaining that momentum

I think I have an extra set of stub pipes. Got them in a package deal some years ago- not sure of their origin. You're welcome to them if you still have need

powder coat that european headers and use a magnaflow muffler. The good thing with this headers, you can just drop them by detaching it from the small stub pipe that will keep the small stub pipe at the heads and will give you easy access to adjust the valve. the only thing is, you don’t have a heater if not using Heat exchanger.

Since it's a race car, I'm not going to worry about heat. Thanks for the replies and possibly the used set of stub pipes!

You guys are really helpful!!
