I was last weekend in Sweden in Vasteras. There were Big Power Meet arraged by Swedish Power Magazine. Last year there were over 10,000 visiting vehicles !!! So, it is a big happening.

Most of the cars are american. I saw only one 944 there. No 914s. But, I like old customs and street rods too. If you like them too, go and see rest of my 80 pics HERE.

This Custom Caddy was my favorite.

Does anyone know what this red car is?
I'm thinking a Ford Crown Victoria (57 ish) but not sure.

shot number 80 shows you ?? or someone riding as a passenger in a convertable. I'm pretty good at cars... but I cant tell what car that is from the pic.

EDIT:

I see the hood emblem now.. its a Mercedes. Must be a 240 or something.

Hi,
I think it's a 1956 Crown Victoria. Although the tail light lenses seem to indicate it's a 1955. My friend had one when we were in High School in 1963. Holy crap!! Thats 40 years ago and seems like yesterday.

I think Elliot is right. That is 56 Crown Victoria with 20 inch wheels and modern injected SBF.

Yes, thats me who have taken that pic. It is in the way back from Vasteras to Stockholm. But, we are not riding any convertable. Thats my friends ยด61 Mercedes 220 Coupe 2D HT. Same car as in pics 001 and 002. I think I have send pics before about that car. It has now SBC engine with Hestec programmable FI, Autorotor screw blower, about 800 Nm torque and about 500 hp. Very fast old Mercedes. Wheels are 7x17 and 4 piston brake calipers and disks in front and rear.

Do you know the history of te "screw blower" ?? Its of German descent. They used them as air raid sirens.

No, I didnt know the history of them. Pretty interesting.

NICE.

Its fits very well. I'm surprised he didnt use a nice aluminum racing radiator.

That blower is different from the true "screw type" blowers. It is still a twin screw design...just different from the standard issue.

Looks like a stock GM replacement engine (Crate Motor as we call them here in the states.)

The valve covers look like the plastic ones I like to use (or should I say composite ??) Very lightweight and durable.

Thats original Mercedes radiator and it works very fine. Temps were ok all the time during our trip to Sweden. In the highway we drove 70 mph and there were no problems. In the saturday night cruising the temps rised a little after driving very slowly.

My friend have done the engine himself. There is new forged crank, new connection rods, billet pistons and so on. He did even the throtle body and headers himself. The engine looks now a lot better when it is ready. I will see if I find any later pics...

BTW, the rear axle is 9 inch Ford.

This is a project pic how the engine looked about 6 months ago. The FG/CF snorkel is nearly ready. The FG parts are now painted black and there is silver stripes between the CF and the black.
