Very good project. Actually, posting any original 914/6 compliance decal would be useful. I think this is 916.

Hi Glenn,
Number 41 was delivered on 4-1-1970 to a leasing company in National City, CA and always stayed here. I have the rear trunk number and the book shown here. Question is what date is the MFG of my car. No info on the COA I got a very long time ago. Question as to just how many cars where coming out of the factory for 6s in the early numbers. Just how long would it take to ship from Germany to Long Beach, CA? I would really like to get a very close date for my 6 as far as date of birth. Thanks for your help in this project. Bob Burton 11/69 - 914.043.0033 Your info? 12/69 - 914.043.0035 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |

Hello Bob,
I also received your PM and figured I would answer your question here. Unfortunately the Karmann number on the 914/6 does not really give us any information because it is just a serial number. I would guess that your car was built in December 1969 because it is only 6 away from a car I have information about. Sorry but I have no information on how long it took a car to get to the US from Germany, I would guess that your car sat on the lot for a while because I have heard that car were available about Feb 1970. |

11/69 - 914.043.0033 I visited Harry Bytzek and took many photos of his car. If #33 was 11/69, I am going to use 11/69 for #41 as it is just 8 cars away. As the factory does not know this will be my birthdate month. Bob B (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) |

11/69 - 914.043.0033 I visited Harry Bytzek and took many photos of his car. Well if you saw a photo of #35 it must have been MFG in the beginning of December. So I will use December. That is my Birth month as well just in 52. I see no other way to get this hammered down. Interested to see just how many cars where coming out of the factory a month in the early production. Bob B |
