Does anyone know for certain the work week number system that Karmann used in 1971?

January 1st, 1971 was a Friday. Was this the first week of 1971 or the last week of 1970?

Online calendars show it both ways, all that matters is what Karmann's week schedule was?!

Trying to find a car built on a certain day. March 15, 1971.

Karmann chassis code 11195xx or 12195xx. Year 1971. Depending on answer to above

Thanks

Since Jan 1st is a govt holiday, I would say week #1 was the following week (Jan 3)

The week numbering system is very common in Europe and is therefore a standardized system to avoid confusion. I found this:

No - you're counting weeks - NOT "work weeks" - so the instruction is to start week #1 with Jan 1, even if it's the only day in that "week".

That's in the instructions listed somewhere.

Otherwise your week count will be off by a week for decoding your Chassis No.

Tom

I read the same thing on the forum here somewhere. But I can't find any proof/documentation of how Karmann started work weeks for 1971.

I figured someone would know for sure?!

Here is something interesting I found, particularly the last paragraph.

Calendar 1971
January
KW Mo Di Mi Do Fr Sa So
53 28 29 30 31 1 2 3
01 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
02 11 12 13 14 15 16 17
03 18 19 20 21 22 23 24
04 25 26 27 28 29 30 31

February
KW Mo Di Mi Do Fr Sa So
05 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
06 8 9 10 11 12 13 14
07 15 16 17 18 19 20 21
08 22 23 24 25 26 27 28

March
KW Mo Di Mi Do Fr Sa So
09 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
10 8 9 10 11 12 13 14
11 15 16 17 18 19 20 21
12 22 23 24 25 26 27 28
13 29 30 31 1 2 3 4

The year 1971s maximum week number is WN 52. 1971 starts on Friday, January 1st 1971 and ends on Friday, December 31st 1971. One year has up to 53 week numbers.

The first week of the year (WN 1) is the week containing january 4th or the first tuesday of the Year.
