Put on a bit of IMSA livery to register with SVRA. Had a great time at Roebling Road piloting Kermee to 1st place in all three practice races against a field of 18 or so wide variety of marques. Had a rear view mirror full of a couple of BMW's, a Lotus Super Seven, a Nascar Pontiac and even an Ariel Atom, but Kermee really wanted to stay in front so I went along for the ride! Looking to do more Vintage Racing this year...

John, which tires did you run in SVRA? are those TD's? brant Yep, they're the Hoosier TD's that SVRA wants us to use. I've been on Toyo RR's for years & was not sure about the TD's but find they're great, very pleased with them so far in cool weather use. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

How did you modify set up. And what pressures did you like?

The spoiler is Roger Sheridan's--he's selling them through Automotion (Used to be Eckler's) & their shipping is below what he can send them for to my location on East Coast.....here's a link: https://www.automotion.com/performance-spoi...-1970-1976.html No modification to fit up to the front flares..... |

I would still love to hear more about your experience going to these tires.
I was trying to find someone who had direct experience with the TD and either hoosiers A/R7 or RA1 tires to compare too did you modify the alignment, springs, or set up? what about tire pressure? any feedback about feel or more importantly... lap times? thanks brant |

How did you modify set up. And what pressures did you like? Actually didn't change any setup 'til I can read the wear pattern which after two events doesn't seem to show much yet. Bear in mind that's in cool conditions with my talent level at work, so still not got measurable tire temps to go by yet. Still, dropped 2-3 seconds off of my best lap times at Roebling, so I'm happy thus far. IIRC I'm currently at approx. 1 1/2 degrees negative camber front and 2 1/2 in rear. |

Cool...do not slip too far! So what was your time? I have never seen a track neutralize power and reward handling like RRR...

Cool...do not slip too far! So what was your time? I have never seen a track neutralize power and reward handling like RRR... Tony Lap times were in 1:25's & 1:26's, so not down in your league, but more than 3 secs faster.....but it's a bit apples to pineapples as the engine was refreshed as well..... Brant....I used the Hoosier recommendation of one psi per hundred as a starting point, so aimed to get 22psi hot. Cold was about 18... |

There's two VDCA events on the calendar...Sept 7-9 and Dec 7-9 this year. SVRA won't be back 'til '19 likely in February again. Check out Roebling's calendar.....there's always DE events and the like going on...Here's how Race Monitor scored me:

John, good to hear Kermee will be on the Vintage racing circuit. Would be great if you could make the Jefferson 500 at Summit Point in May. Really great event with VRG. Lots of cars! VRG in general puts on a really good show.
Also, you know PCA Club racing also has their Silver class which is all air-cooled up to 1983. Lots of track time with both groups. Check them out, usually have a good showing of 914s. Also the Jefferson 500 has a Porsche feature race which is a hoot. Good to hear from you. |
