I have 96mm pistons in a 1.8 , I have taken the cylinders to get honed and they are 6 thousandths over, will that be too much, will I get heating problems because of it?
Pistons are in great shape, and I don't want to buy a new set.

Also anyone in Canada rebuild heads for this thing?

Thanks,
Keith

0.006" over what? What's meaningfull is the diameter of the piston as opposed to the diameter of the barrel......this is your piston to bore clearance.......that's what you need to be concerned about.

Stock cylinder clearance limts (according to Haynes):

1.7/1.8 = 0.0015" to 0.008"
2.0 = .0008" to .008"

Since you have oversize barrels and pistons = more heat = more clearance needed possibly. We set our race pistons to bore @ 0.010".

If you are at 0.006" on the piston to bore clearance, then you would be within specification, worn, but within specification.
