Wonder what modification "Orange Crush" is "missing" to make the people with Singer type of budgets want this car?

The 911 body. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

QUOTE(Mueller @ Mar 1 2018, 12:28 AM) *

Is it special enough or is it too close to your dare I say standard cookie cutter 914 GT recipe? No CF roof or CF fenders or a 500hp 4-valve air cooled motor like the what is supposed to be being built for some new Singer builds.

To me it's a very expensive cookie cutter. Sure the car is nice, but it's pretty tame. Lots of cool little touches, but nothing that really makes you go wow like the Singer engine, etc. For a heavily modifed car at this pricepoint I would expect more.

You are correct on both statements.

It's only worth what someone will pay for it. I can't imagine that there are a lot of seriously interested buyers out there (particularly that actually would want to drive it rather than just "museum" it).

buy it quick - still time to get yourself entered in RR-VI races & run with the other high-rollers

I was present for a large part of the build and can tell you the stated expenses are no exaggeration. The engine and transmission are amazing because Kelly-Moss has exceptional engine builders. There really was no stated budget on this build and almost every part is new. So yes it was very expensive
here is a link with some build photos I took

When you read the s3mag article linked in the thread linked above, the whole build comes into perspective

I would guess many among us would build something very similar if we we had the means. Thanks Glen for sharing your special insight.

Very cool machine

What is a good color?
I am all over the place.

Flared 5 lug, power plant will keep getting bigger until I die.

1) silver with a red Interior
2) modern, in your face HOC metallic gold
3) Black (but rick/Elliott already did that
4) red....
5) some cool pastel color

If I could do any color again it would be either a dark gray color (non-914) or polar silver from the 993. Here's what both looks like... and Dad's car...

I kind of have a hard time calling someone who can pony up the bucks a 'poor soul'. Not a value judgement I'd be willing to make. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

I think the engine build is what brings this cars price so high. The chassis build is super clean and detailed, but many 914-6 GT builds have this as well for a lot less money.

I like the car, but would have done a few things different IMHO...

Spent $370,000 restoring and building a 914. I don't think that covers the cost of the car, so let's say $400,000 spent.

600 hours labor to make a couple of fiberglass bumpers. I got a call BS unless the check writer was a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif) stoned, rich moron. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
