Does anyone here have experiencing making their own mounts with Flexible Urethane Casting compound (from McMaster) or with 3m "Window Weld"?

Got the idea from vwvortex: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2007419

If anyone has experience with it...let me know how it worked out. Wonder if I can make my own custom (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif) mounts with it or upgrade the existing ones?

Do you mean for the fronts or rear mounts?

A friend of mine (very very very smart guy) told me to use the same stuff (3m window weld) to stiffen up and repair the trans mount on my Acura. They're notorious for deteriorating and turning to shit. And they're expensive as hell, with no after market alternative. I haven't tried it yet, but I intend to to. The mount will be replaced with a stock replacement this weekend and then I'll use the used mount to experiment.

Front motor mounts on a 4 cylinder engine are cheap ($15/each). You can replace the rear tranny mounts with 911 "Sport" or "heavy duty" mounts for $40/each. You can also find aftermarket 911 Sport mounts for like $25/each.

Also, lots of people have made solid rear tranny mounts.
