Two plates and original temp tag. I think having all three is pretty rare.
Plates were last registered in 1977 and I believe can be used with collector plates. I have the same user name on Pelican with lots of parts bought and sold. $350 obo Attached thumbnail(s) |

I'd love to buy these and use them on one of my Washington registered 914s, but WA State DOL doesn't make it so easy. They could probably be used as "personal plates" on a regular driver with the attendant elevated (for Personal Plates) annual renewal fees. But, it appears from the temp plate that they were first issued in 1978 so I couldn't keep my one-time fee, non-renewal, rear plate only collector plate status. Regardless, I keep thinking about it.

As far as i can tell the temp tag is from 1976. The tabs on the plates are from 77. Let me know if you want a better picture.

Here is the base plate used in Washington from 1968 to 1981...
(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.staticflickr.com-20876-1536417520.1.jpg) Washington License Plate Colors They were green on white...not yellow. However, it could be that personalized plates were yellow then, unlike the normal plates. Personalized plates in Washington were first introduced in 1975... License Plate History In order for these to be registered to a car... 1. Most likely only a 75 or 76 would be eligible under Washington's Year of Manufacture license plate program due to the fact that personalized plates were not available for prior year cars. 2. The year tabs would have to be removed which may further damage the plates. 3. If the DOL does not have some documentation showing the year range of the early personalized plates and that they were yellow, I think you'd have a heck of a time convincing them that the plates are eligible for Year of Manufacture issue. It would be a real crap shoot to get them registered to a car, but they would make great wall hangings. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

they are personalized plates ..not standard issue pay for personalized plates and they will be legal with current paid yearly tabs.. the only way,,, Running the yellow ones would be a slight bend in the rules but just have the new ugly issue plate in yor trunk
