This was removed from the 1971 donor which has a side shifter, would that make it for side shifter cars?

Why are you changing it out? I have (to my surprise) a 72 with the tail shifter. I had always heard the tail shifter was garbage, but I'm rethinking that now. It is every bit as good as the side shift on my 75. I think it's a little more complicated, but I've been impressed as is work very well. Perhaps it's a matter of it being a little more difficult to get adjusted correctly?

If you do change out ask Bruce Stone (BDStone) as I know he had kits put together to do the conversion. I have some of the pieces you need (bushings and such). The only think other than stock you will need is a fire wall bushing that fits the early and has the ID for the late rod (which I have also if you need it).

As far as adjustment you may want to try this 1st -

Good morning - this is off the donor car, I wouldn't remove it from a car I was going to keep/ drive. I'll try to make that more clear going forward.
