As many of you have been aware, George decided to make the roll bar pads we have been working on for some time. I have to admit, dimensionally and for fit it works. Yes many do need these.
The only issue we had with this piece is the finish. It is more of a spatter texture, that and the gloss level is more flat. Overall a goo piece for a daily driver. So after some discussion we opted to bring in 10 and provide a daily driver quality part. We will also be continuing to make the concurs piece. The agreement is that we will not undersell AA in price. We will match any sales. Currently retail is $250. We will also make our version available to AA with the same understanding. So much effort to re manufacture a part like this and to miss on the appropriate grain is a big disappointment. Will be anxious to see the improved version with the correct grain.
It reminds me of all the Vintage VW parts out there, some clearly not as good as others. |

I do applaud Mark for making a deal with George to make it available to the market but I think it sucks that George is dishonest about the part looking the same as the original. If someone overseas buys the part expecting to get a perfect match they will be stuck with it since return shipping will probable come close to the cost of the part. |

Unfortunately some of that is marketing. My wife is in marketing and sometimes things are presented in the best light possible. But I will say if you are going to state in the description "we have now developed perfect ones." You have to expect others to have different opinions. As that is a very strong statement. Maybe better stated would be developed the most perfect ones currently available. Doesn't have the same appeal. I guess that is why I am a scientist and not in marketing. |
