So I had a wild hair yesterday and decided to see if I could get this seat belt retractor to work again. Pulled the cover off the fat side first. That was kinda neat to see what was in there. Not sure how it all works though. Nothing was gummed up or rusted so I decided to leave well enough alone thinking wd40 might make things too slick i chose not to grease anything and put it back together.
Then on to the thinner side. So I unscrewed the screws and carefully removed this cover only to reveal a 27 ft long springsteel anaconda! Yow! Dont know why but i wasnt expecting the thing to explode like that. Anybody else have any experience with these things? I need to see a picture of how it should look before it becomes a steel birds nest. When you rewind the spring does the seatbelt need to be rolled up or extended? Should i rewind from the outer edge to the inner or inner to outer? Any help is greatly appreciated! |
