914 runs great when it starts. Idles fine around 1200, but when it comes to starting her everyday, it's been getting a lot more difficult. When i got the ignition fixed a few months back, it fired up every time. Now it's getting back to where it used to be. I doubt it's the switch that has gone bad since it was replaced not to long ago. What else should i be focusing on? I have a multi-meter. When I let the car sit for a while, it wants to fire up right as i turn the key but doesn't have enough to start. As of today, i tried cranking for a good 15 minutes with no luck. It has never been this bad before. What do you guys suggest i do? I want to get back to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Don't rule out teh ignition switch just because it was recently replaced.
There are some really poor quality switches out there and they fail quicky. "Test don't guess" and "Work smarter not harder" were drilled into me during my apprenticeship and training as a mechanic (too long ago to be a technician). Jim |

Well one of the idle screws on the carburetors was out of whack. Synced both carbs and now it starts more frequently. Hard to say since the engine is warmed up now. Will have to see how it starts in the morning. Will check the ignition switch tomorrow. |
