The yellow one is a parts car - I got it with the gold one that will be my ride.
Jim
clutch slips - first gear grinds - minimal rust - no a/c :

Welcome to the club, the gold one as you say looks like an interesting color. I have not seen one that color before. I kind of like it. As for the yellow one. Looks like a great parts car. Clean the gold one up and make it nice and repaint it the same color. Get the front and rear bumpers chromed and it should look pretty sharp. Sell some of the parts off the yellow one to pay to fix up the gold one. Its the 914 way.

Those are glass flares, cant you tell by looking? Too much of a ridge on the top of the flare. Maybe ridge isnt the word I am looking for. Not rounded enough. I dont know.

I drove 4 hours round trip today to look at these cars. The yellow one has lost of rust but has 914-6 or 911 rims and suspension pieces. Maybe a better tranny but I really don't know. I will have the cars home in a few days. I'd like to get the gold one sand blasted, repainted and undercoated, new clutch put in too. The yellow one I will part out I suppose to offset the overall purchase. Guess I need to but some tools and learn which end of each is the business end : ) I'd love to put a v8 in it in the future for a bit more power and reliability but I want it to always look stock, skinny-ish rims and tires and all. Thanks - I will keep you posted and will be asking lots of questions - like who is local to me in Northern VA?

Buzzards - I think that wasting nothing is a very good trait : ) I was told it was 914-6 type 5 lug suspension and brakes. I will take pics when I get the car here at my house. The car is very rusty from first glance - floor where gas peddle is is gone. I really don't know what I have with the yellow car but will be parting it out and keeping some stuff. Hopefully the pics will allow you guys to determine that the parts really are. My focus is making something decent out of the gold car. * note: it saddens me when a perfectly good car gets stripped for parts but this yellow car is not perfectly good - but before I start to part it our I will take pics and let you guys decide as I currently - aspire - to be 914 newbie.

You can always fix rust (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Having true 5 lug suspension goodies are really cool. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif)

BTW: You're doing pretty good on the 914 owner status chart as you already have a parts car (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) Its a disease.

The gold car looks like a 911 color Quartz Metallic. Great color on the 914. I love that yellow car, to bad about the rust.

Guys and gals - I really don't know what I have. The gold car is the one I bought - the yellow one was thrown in. The other side has more rust. Rather than make you guys nuts - give me a few days to post more pics than you ever want to see. I really need you guidance on how I should proceed. Thanks. Note - I am trying to make the gold one a nice car with the least cost. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif)
