Next little side job on the list of my restoration is to clean up and restore the targe latch mechanism. Here's what I have below.

I can see the handle and the hook parts were plastic coated but the hooks weren't in good shape so I've peeled all of them clean. It looks like at some point in the past some of the other parts were painted gloss black. Should they be matt?

Any advice greatly received. TIA
