I'm replacing the points and condenser on my '75 1.8 with L Jet and the black rubber insulator on the green wire that is supposed to fit in the square hole on the side of the 009 distributor body is too hard to push into the hole. Last time I encountered this I trimmed the ears off of the rubber insulator and used some silicone sealant to secure the insulator in the hole. Not the best solution. Anybody have an easy way to get the rubber insulator into the hole without cutting it up?

Is there a grommet that is supposed to be on the square hole on the side of the distributor that keeps the condenser wire insulator snug in the hole? If so, does anyone know where I might find one?

Bosch makes condensers for both square and oval holes.

Can you post a pic?

I have the condenser with the square insulator but the hole seems to be a little too large for the insulator to fit snugly, and it won't stay secure in the hole. Here are pictures. Attached Image Attached Image

There should be a metal retaining bracket that fits on the condenser screw then into the slot in the plastic piece to hold the wires in place...do you have that?

No, I do not have that retaining clip. I had my condenser mounted to the left under one of the clips that holds down the cap, and just moved it to this location today.. Anyone have my missing retaining bracket? Or a picture of one so I can make one?

It is a flat piece of metal with two prongs, sort of like a two-pronged fork. The two prongs slide into the grooves on the sides of the plastic plug, and a mounting screw goes through a hole near the other end of the piece. There is a step in the middle of the piece so that the fork end sits a little out from the body of the distributor.
