Just finished putting the 40IDF's on the "red neck racer".
And the verdict is it is faster to red line 1st an 2nd gear. according to the Butt dyno. 44's with 36 mm vent are too big until 6000 RPM where they will continue to pull like a frieght train. I hot rodded the carbs a little. knocked all the little blemishes and ridges off the inside edges. took a little off the secondary ventri supports (made them more like wings) smoothed the screws on the throttle plate shafts. Haven't figured main jets out yet 135 gas and 200 air 32mm vent .50 idle Seems to pull pretty frigging hard. 2.0l Bus piston .500 lift 290 duration cam port polished heads. long intakes and SSI Bursch. I have just got to put the 96 flat top pistons in this thing. |
