Just buy that good used motor to drive with until you get the 3.2. We watched you hunting down that good used 2.0 already. Plenty of good motors coming out as the sixes get put in. I bought a good 2.0 rebuilt long block for $900 just a year ago, 113 hp rwhp on dyno.

Hi - I want to build the 1.7 core I have up anyway

Great!

I'm going to start a separate thread later today to map out what we need to do to be prepared.

Ideally we would all show up with the bottom and ready to go and a standard set of parts and tasks to put the top end of the motor together so we could do it in unison and help each other.

That may be naïve, but that would seem to be the right goal.

Depending on the date, I would be happy to providef the "skill" for engine assembly if someone can bring an engine in pieces.

Good morning -just an update that Oscar, Gabe, Ethan and I are making progress on how to structure this.

Will be a two day thing now - day 1 is tear down. Day 2 is assembly.

Worthing with Ethan on structuring this.

Still need o figure out any group buy angle etc...

Thanks for coordinating Tom. The two day setup is perfect as it will give us enough room to assess what to do with our respective engines and order parts, machine work, etc...

I suggest we setup group buys for parts, machine work, etc.. I have a powder coating connection and can setup a discount for all of the tin work.

Thanks

Gabe

Thanks Gabe.

Been chatting with Ethan and this is really starting to shape up. What followings isn't an attempt to be bossy, just trying to make sure we set good expectations and are planning to make everyone successful. This is only going to work if we're well organized and everyone does their part.

In order to make this work I think the event (notice I am not saying "day") would need to look like this;

1) Scope of work limited to top end rebuild of the same engine type.

2) You need to bring a good ALREADY CLEANED UP 1.7 to Oscar's by 8:30 AM that day or you are out of luck. Engine should be ALREADY STRIPPED DOWN to what Ethan wants to see (pending)

3) You need to bring your own tools / oil disposal etc so we're not losing time waiting for bits

4) Scope of refresh / spec of what we are building is shared across the participants, we are all flying 737-700s here...

5) Group buy with a vendor that Ethan trusts happens and parts are in hand a week ahead of time

6) Saturday would be group tear down

7) Sunday would be assembly, clean up, and loading

8) We need to make sure we leave Oscar's place spotless and find out what sort of wine / food his family likes since they are being Saints

Sound right? Ideas? Anything missing here, most likely there is since I'm a newbie...

Thanks!

Hey guys-hope everybody had a good week.

I had a chance to catch up with Ethan tonight and Ethan. Bruce have been putting their heads together on this and came up with a suggestion on how to do this which is far more reasonable than what I sketched out. And by reasonable I mean not a train wreck.

Basically what we're going to do is pick one engine to tear down on Saturday, that way Easton can take the time to show us how to measure everything and determine whether or not there's additional work needed. Sunday will be rebuilding one engine that's already been checked out so everybody can see how to do it properly. We're working on trying to get this videoed so there will be a reference guides available on how to do it.

Due to scheduling issues and existing commitments it looks like this is going to be September now.

Tom,. That sounds like a plan. This is how the 911 engine workshop I attended in Philly worked. It was great and had advantages as you could spend time talking notes and asking questions.
