In my mind, there are times when you want a loud muffler, even if it’s only to enjoy the sound of the six. But if I’m going to drive it a couple hours or more, I don’t want something that will make my ears bleed. Ben came up with a solution for me. I love it!

Very cool and creative. Ben does great work. When I saw my SS heat exchangers and muffler in LA, I was very impressed with their construction, welds, and appearance. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Good stuff, I was planning on sending him my old M&K to get rebuilt as a rally muffler too. Wonder how many years it'll be before I am ready to install/test it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Allright boys- I guess this is as good a place as any to jump in with this;

I love the idea of the Town & Country mufflers for the reasons Mark mentioned, but have wanted to suggest to Ben for a while that he go the final mile and use solenoid actuated butterfly cut outs for the sport pipes, like the Muscle car guys do, so you could dial in between the loud and soft effect of the muffler.

Sport pipes closed for running around your neighborhood on Sunday mornings, once out on the road- let 'er rip, without having to get out and touch hot exhaust components.

I'd bet you wouldn't be able to keep up with demand from the 911 crowd.

Cheers- Harry

My mufflers are just so different in the internal construction from the M&k mufflers its unrecognizable except for the similar exterior appearance..

Nathan I could do something similar to this to your new muffler as well?

This one started out as one of Ben’s quiet mufflers. It’s not a modified M&K. I asked him to hot rod it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The only issue is that I don't market to the 911 market.. That would ruin the deal the current owner of m&k have.. The 914-6 market is so small.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I have to admit I love the idea of a "zoomie" activated valve to switch between quite and not so quiet while driving. My other Porsche has the Porsche Sport Exhaust and my wife loves being able to open the exhaust up on her way home. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I can put cut outs in no problem but I can't hide them internally. And cut outs can look cumbersome and expensive as well to add.

I agree, the current Porsche sport mufflers are 2-in-4 out designs. One pair of outlets are valve actuated to bypass the secondary mufflers. It's a large unit...and very $$$.

To be honest Ben, I have a feeling my 2-in-1-out I just got from you will make my daughter and neighbors happy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) But I'll be in touch when I get the itch for more loudness...it always seems to happen a couple years after.

I guess I need to get off my duff and put the car together to find out, right? At least I sold the 911, so that'll give me the $ needed to finish the 914. Leave it to a 914 guy to sell a perfectly good, strong running 911 to fund a 10-year 914/6 conversion project (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
