I decided that I needed to build a stand so I could time and set carbs and test exhaust before putting everything in the car.. Attached Image

Ben I like it, what about controls and Oil tank battery etc.... I am hoping it is not done as I would like to do the same. More than willing to steal a good design.

That is exactly what I was planning to build for my 4 rebuild. Yours looks very professional! Does anyone have the dimensions for the engine support bar/gearbox mounts for a Type 4 to save a careful measuring session?? Its the vertical alignment I am a bit worried about particularly.

Thanks

Me too, got my eye on the this thread.

Maybe sell detailed plans for a few bucks, or do like blue sky did with their rotisserie design and post a free link to plans/material list on you website to help drive traffic....

Here is a kickass engine test stand that our good friend Karl at Thoroughbred Motorsports made.

I think a nice stand like Pete has attached is a must for folks that build engines on a regular basis. When I was rebuilding aircraft engines in a former life we ran each engine before it left.. Just to make sure..

Nice stand I would be afraid to hit the key while leaning over the engine. That fan looks to be at the right height to _____________ shudder the thought.

My run-in stand was 3 jack stands, one under each end of the engine cross bar and one under the tail of the trans.
