I have a 1973 with side shirt trans. It started grinding shifting into first gear and also reverse. It seems to be at low rpm only, hence 1st and reverse. I do not know that for certain, I stopped driving it. Clutch seems fine. Any suggestions?

Have you adjusted the clutch? Checked the shift bushings? Transmission full of gear lube?

Clutch seems fine? Cool. But is it in fact fine?

That's a classic sign of a clutch that is not releasing all the way.
