Hello World,

This September I'm relocating with my Fiance to the LA area, specifically somewhere within 30-40 minutes drive of UCLA. Obviously my project 914 is coming with us (this was non-negotiable). So, we are in the midst of searching for a rental place that has a private garage included. This of course is somewhat challenging in the LA area but I've found a couple of rentals that might work.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone know of a garage or workspace that could be rented for storing and working on cars? I've come across a few listings on craigslist but most specifically state for storage or long-term parking only. There is a really neat place called "your dream garage" but it's too far east for me to realistically consider (I'd never actually go work on my car).

Anybody out in the LA area know of a rental workshop or garage? Garage condominium? Etc?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Look into small municipal airports hangers. I've driven into El Monte Municipal several times to meet a 914 owner that stores and works on his cars there. The security is awesome also! I wish I knew some people that would like to share the rent.

I don't specifically have work space for rent although I could help out with short term car storage (90621) until you find a long term storage solution.

I have a car hauler so I could also assist in moving your car locally.

PM me if interested.

To try to find anything 30-40 min from UCLA is a huge undertaking. UCLA is close to me. I can see Westwood out my back door but even for me, it can take 30-40 min to get there and if there is a lot of traffic it can take much longer. The truth is my home town ( I was born here 65 years ago) has changed every year for the worse as far as traffic goes.

Santa Monica airport is close to UCLA but still 20 min. CK to see if they can help you out with a storage space.

There is a guy trying to sell a V8 car from that area owned by a pilot on EBay. Orange no bumper tops. Lots of small airplanes there. He may know where you can rent a place close to UCLA

By the way, Oscar is a super nice guy.

All,

I really appreciate the replies and generous offers to help. Especially Oscar & Pete.

I will try to contact some of these muni airports to see if any hangar space is available?

We are flying out to check out a few rental places this weekend. Fingers crossed I can find a place with a garage space included.

Will keep you all updated

To update this thread... we ended up finding a place last weekend. Essentially an apartment over a 2 car garage in Beverly Glen. We really lucked out. The landlord is an older lady who owns the place and doesn't fully realize the gem she's sitting on. Let's just say I couldn't believe how affordable her place was compared to other places we saw last weekend in much less sought after areas.

Anyways, the fiancé is happy because she's close to campus and I'm happy because I get both garage bays (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
