First guestimate in dimension. Looks a smidge to large to me...what say you?

Definitely too big. Use the "U" and "L" in DUNLOP as references. I love that you're taking the time to make your car correct.

I am really trying to make the car respectful, and it not be a hack job. There are some really awful replicas out there... and the crazy thing is right now I'm actually considering going back to deep 6 and 7R wheels, and raising the car back up to a farm tractor ride height, like the real car, because the more I look at the real car the more I like that look. I will say that I have not been to one race and someone not ask me if it's the real car or not. That makes me feel pretty good and I'm pretty close to the target.
Yes I agree, I'm sure it's too large right now. I just took a wild guess after I found an image on the internet and printed it. I'm going to let my friend who is a professional do the size based on a measurement I found from another image. You can actually still buy this decal, believe it or not.

Here is the first draft of Dunpy in red using the blue to create the red, used on the car. Printed on paper it looks dark. The file is much brighter.

Thanks Andy! FYI if anybody wants one of these stickers they're pretty cheap and kind of cool if you have a vintage race car that has Dunlop on it. Think they are less than $10.00 each. Currently I have plans to do a few other different decals for vintage cars. Requests welcome.

So as always, one thing leads to another, and while researching this my neighbor whose family owns a graphics company, volunteered to get involved, and (make some money) asked if I wanted to do anything else to the car. And while we discussed the recent work, it was pointed out that the DUNLOP font was more seventies style than the one actually on the car currently. So, needless to say, more work is ongoing. Here is the proof, since we now know the exact size of DUNPY, a good replica of the old type DUNLOP decal can be produced. They should be done this week...I choose the top proof.

When you mentioned slot car decals, I thought of Pattos Place, an Australian internet site that offers model and slot car decals. They have a set of decals for the Sonauto 914, but it appears there are no Dunpy figures included. Sorry.

Here is a link to the site and a photo of the decals from their site. On their home page, select P under Decals, then scroll down to Porsche 914. They have the Sonauto and Brumos 914 decals.

One thing that is correct on the sheet is the curved PORSCHE name on the roof. I did not replicate that, and won't. They just reused the front bumper decal on the roof, which is a bit silly looking.

I am also redoing the front bumper decals to be more accurate, as they were to big. I had to redo the front bumper, as I added the correct Cibie Pallas this summer...

Thanks Ferg!

So here is the more correct font and stripe size based on the photos. It's still not perfect but I think I am done with it.

Thanks to Kathy at California Signs for this one! (My neighbor)

These are the modern version and the type I removed.

Kathy created created something much closer to the type on the car in 1970 if you just stop and study the photo from the race.

Not sure how you didn't see that, or catch it the text of the last couple posts...however thanks allot for the other decals you helped me out with provided with Lowes car when you obtained it.
