Kinda figured that is why you were asking..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) Best thing to do is not fight it. The car will straighten out on it's own. Fighting it will only make it worse. Smart ass driver a few moths ago got his Miata doing this manuever and just let go of the wheel. Car straighten up and he shot through the last cone and into the timing light gate a little sideways not hitting a thing. |

Had a friend experience his 1st (and only) tank slapper a few years back. At about 80mph, his death grip cause it to get worse when it finally threw him off. The bike's right handlebar hit the ground which pinned the throttle, and it stood right back up and kept going till a parked truck on the side of the road stopped it. so yeah, the best thing to do is relax and ride it out, a little more gas takes the weight off the front and can help it straighten out, if you're going straight that is.

Let me guess, you were headed up to Angeles Crest? Good thing it happened on the 210 and not in the mountains! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) BTW: Where in pasadena are you? |

East 210 @ Sierra Madre would be going away from "the Crest".

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) I do frequent the Crest, but not on motorbikes. Usually to "Redbox" up Mt. Wilson Road. Albeit, very late at night; I've gone there as many as six times a week!
(IMG:http://www.digitpress.com/forum/images/smiles/0803_cool.gif) Beautiful South Pasadena; near the Vons / Pavillions >> I usually have to park my overflowing 914 collection at the stores' side parking lot |

No way, thats your red 914? Ive seen that parked there for a while and always wondered whose it was.
They just repaved the lot, where did it go? I live on marengo... like across the street. If you go down lyndon until you hit marengo, stop by and say hi friday afternoon and check out my 914. It should be coming off the trailer at around 2pm (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) BTW: redbox is my favorite place to go. If you're in a rally car go to upper tujunga road. Theres a right hand turn after red box and it goes to some old building. Its great fun in the snow in a wrx (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

(IMG:http://www.digitpress.com/forum/images/smiles/argue.gif) eh, Amazing! Yeah I was out of town when the notices were placed, so they towed my '75. think I got it out the next day. Also my grey '70 is parked there sometimes. >> My 'race' 914s are in the garage (a '72 & '73) down Monterey.
yeh, sounds good |
