George, what's that gold colored counterbalanced do-dad on the top of the intake horn? I don't recall ever having such a device before.

Stupid question, can you safely steam clean an engine (while in the car of course). I am worried about damaging paint, injectors etc.. what do you think?

That is a one way flapper - it only opens when air is being drawn in. The same thing is used on Oil bath filters from early beetles 1200 & 1300cc engines I believe.

steam is fine, the heavy pressure washer is not so fine, steam will do a good job without a lot of pressure, just cover the intake and distributor injectors will not be hurt

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) the 4 with FI does nothing for me.

It’s not a Porsche but the Mirage with the BRM engine qualifies for engine porn. It’s always a show stopper when Russo fires it up. 12k redline.

That Type IV would look better if the dipstick was zinc plated gold, like they were new.

For "aural stimulation" the Matra V12 is hard to beat.

Nice! One day, when I get my engine back together, mine might look like that.

Thanks for posting.
