Long story…
I spent so much time in my garage many years ago that my young daughters often asked, why? I always replied by saying I’m fixing something or making something. So as they grew up they told their friends and teachers I could make anything. That is why I was always in high demand for school projects or called on to make or repair school equipment. I loved doing anything that involved staying close to my girls. Fast forward many years, one daughter is married and off with her own family, my last two are in college. They barely notice what I’m doing in the garage these days. The other day I was assembling an early RS steering wheel that had a Porsche crest in the center. My youngest noticed and asked if I made it and I said no. She said why buy it if you can make anything. Huh…well, I didn’t need another horn button center so I thought about making drink coasters…fast forward 3 months…here’s my first attempt. Most expensive coasters I’m sure....but satisfying. I showed my girls last night and they said why make them if you can buy them. I said Huh…oh well. I searched and couldn’t find them so there. I now have RARE Fuchs Coasters as future giveaways. I'm mocking up 914 coasters now. Oscar |

Nice...
I just bought some leather to experiment on with my laser engraver/cutter. For my steering wheel hockey puck I want 914 instead of the Porsche crest. |

These are very cool, the closest I've found are these. But I like the leather better. I just got a laser engraver too, I might have to try this.
Can you send me the file? Attached thumbnail(s) |

I punched the circles using a piece of 3 inch pipe and a 2.875 round piece of steel. Then I soaked leather for 30min prior to using my arbor press to stamp. Then I let dry sandwiched as to not deform. Finished with a coat of leather dye and wax. Pretty easy but this method is not for mass production. We need a coaster tech day!! let's make some. Next is 914 and 914-6 rectangular leather key chains. Oscar |

This is awesome. Tech day would be great.
You can always sell the leather and get free stamping with the leather? |

Oscar, your girls sound great....and your machine work rocks. Anyone walking thru my garage asks about the "Grumpy" sign you gave me. Thanks again for the 914 spirit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grouphug.gif)

Nice work.
I go to wine country to escape. At least that's what I call my garage. |
