I have an early handbrake setup. Today I set it like normal push the button in pull up and release button but the button was stuck down.

The brake is still grabbing and I can reach under the handle and with my fingers manually set the pin to grab the notches so yhe brake stays set. But without the button popping back out it will not stay “set”

I tried to pull the button out carefully with plyers and I also tried to move the rod inside the handle with no luck. Anything else to try before I pull it out? What is the cause for the jam?

Thanks

914rubber also has those springs. It might just be corroded and need cleaning and lube.
