I am trying to replace the outside window scraper on my 1973 914 door. I've removed the small screw from the end cap but am wondering how to get this piece loose. I've tried to pry it up but I do not want to break it anymore than I already have. Do I have to loosen the rear rail inside the door for the window glass? Also, are these still available? I've found them at AA but they are only for 70-72 cars.
Can anyone advise please? ![]() |

There is another screw in the glass channel near the top.
Peel back the fuzzy out of the channel about an inch down and you will see it. Undo that screw and pull ths cap straight out. |

Once the screw is out pull it straight up. If you drop the screw...then you are talking the door card off. |

Yep screw can be accessed by rolling the window down. Do yourself a favor and use a magnetic screwdriver.

If the window rattles in the rear guide rail, now would be the time to replace the Channel. You have to pull the card to do this. More often than not there is rust remediation required inside the door. Lubricate the the adjuster in the front guide and make sure it functions. 6mil plastic and some double sided tape for new vapor barriers before you button it up. Invest in a can of AeroKroil.
