Took the then-girlfriend on a 16hr/900mi trip from Chicago to Albany NY in the early 80's in my 914-6. Drove straight thru with only a couple gas & bio breaks. Spent about a week with my family, and did more driving/sightseeing on the east coast. Figured if she could put up with that, she was a keeper. For the trip back, she was was my fiancee.
37 years later, I still have both of them.

Good things happen in a 914...

Wish the best for both of you..

In 1972 we went on our honeymoon in a 914, Started in San Diego and went as far as Victoria BC. 46 years later I can say it gave us a great start. And a couple of years ago when I found another 914 to buy all I had to do was tell my wife how romantic it would be to have anohter 914.

Best of luck

Nothing as pretty as new Bride. Their beauty radiates the love in their heart. Good choice on the car, also. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Thanks all for the well wishes and compliments! The trip was great and we both very much enjoyed it. I was a bit nervous heading out that Monday as this was the first really long trip in it, but it all turned out well and we made some wonderful memories!

Both the car and the better half are keepers. She fully supports the "obsession" and is okay with the VW and Porsche taking up weekends occasionally.

I'll try to get some more photos of the rear and post those up in another thread. I think that picture may be a bit funny, it was kind of rushed since the lighthouse was closing down for the day and getting people to leave. Should I lift it up and get some photos of the suspension bits as well for everyone to see if there's anything wrong?

Massive congratulations! Pretty soon you'll have to start discussing who gets stuck riding and who gets to drive, then one day comes the realization it's just easier to get her her own 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

... We weren't able to go on a honeymoon, but my car did take us home from the wedding.
