I am selling for this 1975 2.0 for a client. Sad story this is. It was restored (decent amateur) 10 years ago. Family issues put the car outside in the weather for 8 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif). It runs and drives. FI is all there. AAR is stuck and I haven't had time to disassemble and rebuild so it's bypassed. Front brakes just rebuilt and rears are working as they should. Interior is pretty good and seems relatively complete excluding any incorrect parts. Okay now for the ugly. The following needs significant metal work: floor pan is soft 24 inches off the firewall, firewall is rotted from the floor pan seam upward 2-3 inches, hell hole was semi fixed at some point but needs help, pass rocker is on trouble in the rear wheel well and as can be seen the drivers front fender has seen better days. Mid point forward is pretty darn good. This is a typical New England 914. Client is asking $8500 but is open to all reasonable offers. I sold a non-running squirrel infested 2.0 devoid of an interior for $2200 this past March so I figure the price isn't insane but...

Bumpster. If anyone cares to provide a price that would actually result in a sale my client could use some direction.

I know we're not supposed to comment on sales, but since the seller has asked for advice...
I'm by no means an expert, but that rust is bad. If you want any real money for it, your best bet is likely to part it out. Otherwise, you'll have to sell it for almost nothing, then the next person will part it out anyway. Hopefully I'm wrong, it would be great to see it saved! |

I'm in for $1k complete I sold a non running 2.0l engine for twice that so let's be reasonable shall we. Looking at the pictures, you may be well over what the market will bear for a car in that condition. Hope you can get that but it is likely more valuable being parted out. |

I would totally pay $3000 for that....delivered to me in Cali. It has some really good looking parts that I would use on my cars, and the rest? To the crusher if nobody sneezed on it first. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I think you will get more for you client by parting it out rather than selling it as whole.

I think you will get more for you client by parting it out rather than selling it as whole. But then it will probably a wash for the client or even less because of the time it takes to part the car; add in the time it takes to remove part, take pics, shelf part, list part for sale, answer questions, take payment, pack, ship, send tracking and mark part sold. Maybe 100 hours total and many parts will take time before they sell. It just depends what your time is worth. |

Parting your car out often doesn't make sense if you count for time, if he just wants it done and gone he's going to be better off just taking the hit. Unfortunately I think most of us here look at the rest of the car as just a convenient way to move the engine and transmission at this point. :-( |

Yeah well parting it out, I really don't have time for that. I have a 928S2 euro with a very solid body to part out, but... Selling this rotten orange gets me paid for another porsche I've worked on for them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Craigslist it is. Jon Livesay I would ship it to CA if you don't mind me taking a 18" Wacker cutoff saw to it. I can probably fit all the valuable stuff on a 42x44 pallet and gaylord. Depends on what you want. I have 6 or 7 902 trannys, 1 schnell (aka snail) tranny and 2 915 trannys to unload as well.

I've never seen a car with that style antenna.
