I found "Orange Power" at the 99c store. Cleaned my parts with that, hot water & a wire brush.
Worked great!!! 2 days later - the skin on my hands pealed right off!!!
Cool... But I'm old skool - I still miss M.E.K. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

Mississippi is the place you ought to be. We still think it's OK to do what ever the hell you want.

MEK, PD680 and Trich...

Add some Berryman's carb cleaner and man is that some good stuff!

I'm afraid to have kids, I have been dipped in solvents and chemicals since the age of 10 with no safety gear, except when I was in the Marines...

I have found that the purple power is very good to wash your hands with (straight non diluted) before a date with a chick that don't need to know you are an engine builder... works wonders!

It's amazing what GoJo and a stiff bristled brush will do.

Too much work.... :-)... The superclean just requires a dip and a few splashes to get you good as new!

I'll bet aircraft stripper works good! I bet if they thought we were going to use aircraft stripper to replace super..

Oh.. I'll bet they'd take it off the market too..

Chemicals don't stop at the skin level, they continue on into the bloodstream. How about some latex or nitrile gloves?

Purple Power was still on the shelves. I tried it once and felt it didn't compare to the Super Clean. I'll give it another shot and see what happens. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/idea.gif)

The last time I went to Wally-Mart to buy Super-Clean the shelf was empty, but the tag was still there. Purple power was in stock so I bought some. The ingredients listed for both appear essentially the same. I've since used the PP and it seemed to work as well.

I've made the mistake (twice) of not wearing gloves while using SuperClean, it was even dilluted. Both times it did weird things to my skin, kind of like that politician in X-men, made it rubbery.

Probably just a genetic mutation that will show up in my children.

Strange, I was working at the body shop on one of my cars. I had to leave quickly and my hands were very greasy. I didn't have time to use the sink since I was outside. I had of bottle of super clean in my car that I sprayed on my hands and wiped the grease off with a shop towel. It didn't do anything weird. I figured those organic based cleaners weren't that bad and I'd use it. I've seen guys in shops use carb cleaner for their hands. That's something I wouldn't do.

Uh-huh, and if it eats through through those substances.....

Please be careful. You do this as a business not just an occasional hobby thing--more contact. My brother-in-law paints and he's a fanatic about keeping all the chems off his skin.

Foamy Engine Brite is great stuff, it is fun to apply too! watch it faom up and attack the crud. Anyone else use it? It leaves a different kind of smell on you for days, but doesn't eat the skin.

I always chase the used oil I pour down the sewer with engine cleaner, want to do the right thing, and not leave a mess!

I think I'm going to convert my car to bio-diesel, I'll burn whale oil!

Bio-Diesel now that's an interesting subject. I'm in the process now of converting my motorhome to a 6.2 Diesel that will run off of used cooking oil or Bio-Diesel. Can't wait to go hundreds of miles for virtually nothing! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) OOps, better keep quite or they'll take that away from me too.

Unless you do the processing yourself....around here the biodiesel is MORE expensive.....

I hope you're joking. Don't throw any oil down the drain. Every parts store or service station should allow you to dump your recycled oil in their bin for free.
