What is the story behind the 2 tone bumpers on racing 914’s? I searched a bit and found nothing- was it team specific? Random? To differentiate 2 cars in the same colour from the same team?

I built the lightest 914 in the history of mankind. Group: Members Posts: 120,107 Joined: 3-February 03 From: Jacksonville, FL Member No.: 222 Region Association: None |
I believe it started with this team of cars. Bumpers were the only thing different about them. Pit crews and time/scoring could tell them apart from the front without seeing the numbers

That makes sense - the yellow car in my first post kinda reminds me of the partridge family bus (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
