Is James K. Thoruson still among us?

I got his first Ninefourtronics FI tester, which has been great, and I wonder if he's still around.

I just sold my 914, so I no longer need to hang onto the prototype NineFourTronics D-Jet Test Set. Therefore, since I have quit making the things long since, I now wish to sell all of the acouterments of the operation.

These include:

NineFourTronics D-Jet Test Set prototype. Not as pretty as the production models, but fully functional.

Bench-top 914 FI simulator. This is an electronic simulator for a real 914 2.0 litre FI system, and includes all of the parts found on the actual car except the injectors, the distributor, and the fuel pump, which are simulated. There is a switch panel which can be used to introduce "faults" into the FI system so that the ease of finding the faults with the Test set can be demonstrated. For use at 914 swap meets, tech events, and the like as a sales and training tool.

Complete tech writing base for the NineFourTronics D-Jet Test Set manual. This includes the copyright to the manual and advertising. The manual is quite extensive and represents many hundreds of hours of writing and research. The copyright is non-exclusive; I reserve the right to quote my own writing, but all sales rights go to the buyer of NineFourTronics.

Schematics and engineering notes.

Assembly jigs and fixtures:
Front panel drilling jig.
Electronic cable lead identification jig.
Pot shaft length jig.
Assembly drawings including laminated blueprints.

Parts Inventory:
Switches.
Pots.
Tip jacks.
Custom PC boards:
Includes Gerber files for two different boards and copyright
VW FI computer cable connectors.
LED's
Resistors
Cable Clamps
Etc.

All warranties for the Test Sets in the customer base have expired, so there is no warranty or repair service liability.

I would like $1,000 for the whole enchilada, or best offer. I have requests from people who want just the test set, so unless someone wants to buy the whole package for more than I can sell the prototype for (around $300 I imagine) I will sell to them first.

Thanks,
Jim T.

I own his '74 914 but I didn't buy it from him...got it from Julian Bunn who was the owner after Jim. Never did get to speak with Jim about the car and whether he knew
more about the history than what came with the paperwork.

It isn't what you drive, but how you drive that counts.

I occasionally see him post to a radio forum I subscribe to, so he is still among us in the earthly sense.
