But why? Sometimes people do things just because they can and believe in it, not because it makes sense. Battery pigs need HUGE tech to work efficiently, and they require charging by our grid... which is still mostly coal-powered in the US, and then very complicated disposal.

I appreciate the growth of electric. But until it makes more sense, an efficient engine makes more sense.

Porsche...the world's most profitable car company has invested over 2 Billion in electric car development. That is not on a whim.

Coal accounted for just over 30% of power generation in the US, so not mostly. Natural Gas to generate electricity is way cheaper.

I just got back from Germany. The new 911's are already being configured for electric power in the future.

I agree with others, that car is old tech. Why buy that unless it is for "novelty" sake.

Right - Wikipedia says it's actually 17.4% in the US for coal.

Coal energy is basically 0% in California and more than half of California's energy production now comes from renewable sources.

Virtually all new cars will be electric in 10 years (or less). The switch is going to happen pretty quickly.

Well....the change is inevitable and is coming. It just hasn't hit the economic tipping point quite yet.

It will happen as quickly as the range on the cars increases.....but it is coming.

Pretty easy decision for Porsche. It is a natural progression for them.
