URO Parts has correctly reproduced OE speaker pods 914 551 506 10 & 914 551 505 10 for the Porsche 914! These pods have the same shape and texture as OE, and are equipped with the same threaded brass inserts as your original pods. They're essential for a proper restoration. MSRP is $99.50 each, and they're available from Porsche specialists such as:

Just a little heads-up to let everyone know we'll have original-style speaker pods available in early 2019, probably around February. Here's a cell photo of one of the pre-production units, they're coming out quite nice. We'll update this post as soon as they're available.

@UROpartsman
@914sixer
Is that an original or a prototype ? If if is your part can you show the back side? Will it be ready for speaker installation? Hold downs for the speaker ?
Price ?

I can see screw mounts between the slats.

So are they spaced for the stock long been extinct metric sized 4x6 or a modern common DIN size 4x6?

Hi guys, these pods are made to be just like the originals, with the same speaker mount spacing and threaded inserts. It's always a tough call when deciding to change an original design or not; on this one we stayed original to please the purists.

The pod in the photo is a pre-production unit made to confirm everything is correct. Engineering approved it for production, which should be happening now. Sales hasn't released the pricing yet, but we'll update the thread as soon as it's available. Sierra Madre and A.A. will undoubtedly be the first to have the pods on the shelf.

You could do screw mounts for both.

Following up on this, has anyone tried these and compared them to their old factory ones?

Trying to decide whether to eek it out with what I've got or replace with new ones. They look very good in the pics—about the only issue I can see is four subtle dimples where the brass attachments were likely melted in on the back side. That seems a fair compromise in replacing 48yo brittle plastic—the factory pods might just be the cheapest feeling factory parts I've found on my 914 over 31 years.

How is fit and finish in real life?

Never noticed the dimples looking at them in person, did you George?

Maybe it has something to do with the plastic shrinking as it cools, and there's more plastic there = more shrinkage.
