Yeah, I know, but lots of 914 mouths to feed and I'm probably not the only one to be curious.
I'm sure there are some new-in-the-box ones floating around but anyone have success with buying used ones? How to tell that they aren't all used up? |

Good quality shocks that are not leaking are worth buying used. Its pretty easy to tell if the shocks are bad with your hands on them. You can cycle the shock and hear bad noises or they dont return like they should.

Hi, and thanks.
Thinking buying decent used quality shocks makes more sense than the KYBs. |

Not Leaking is not always a sign of a good used strut.

My front 911SC struts were bought from a board member here, unknown condition.
They are on my car, they work great. |

I've gotten some good used ones from bruce/bdstone. On that note, @bdstone914 may still have the set that came off my car from Suspension Swap Saturday back in June and they were fine. |

My front Bilsteins were seized and made for a horrible ride ,car was a pig to drive ,replaced with Boge Touring light gas ...what a change .
Don't trust anything used as it could be fine @ the time and turn to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) after that, only a matter of time. The engineer in me says to keep the old ones inserts and check out why they don't work as the ram shafts are in fine condition,I will look forward to doing that. Boge stuff is fine and not too expensive however I seem to remember the rear ones are hard to find?. Good luck. |

When I converted to 5-lug years ago, I bought a full SC front suspension which was a great deal. Of course many of these come off junked cars. Lo and behold upon installation some time later, we found one of the strut housings was damaged though, so it became less of a great deal. Definitely have to carefully confirm condition.

Hi Chris - I went through a couple 2nd hand 911 struts before I found good ones too. Hopefully "just" needed the inserts will make it easier.
Thanks! |

I bought a used set of 911 struts and lucked out since they came with good pair of Koni adjustable shocks. If they do start to fail at some point then rebuilding them is an option if they are quality Koni or even possibly Bilstein shocks.
KYB are very poor quality so I wouldn't buy them new or used. Jeff B |
