The real question is where can you get a kit?

Gosh I think they are actually a general purpose part and can't place it? Maybe in the boating world? I know I saw it recently someplace I was at.. Maybe semi trucks?

Regarding ConeDodger's recommendation, I went with the Pegasus Racing ones too. Slightly different in detail design and dimensions, but they claim to be made of Stainless, vs the aluminum of the originals. Hopefully more resistant to oxidization...? Been on the car a couple of years and still look brand new,

Which ones did you get Tony? How much stretch did you go with?

Here's what I found on Pegasus

These on Amazon don't look bad but maybe too small:

The generic ones are often cheap chrome steel and look terrible when they rust. I like stainless or coated aluminum.

tractor supply has them.

I would agree find SS ones, and test with a magnet to make sure the content is not a high in iron. Cheap SS is all over the place now.

Perry - Looks like I ordered the 3032 part number. Tried the magnet test (per 914forme) and not so much attraction there; so happy with that. I went with minimum possible stretch when latched, not wanting to stress the fiberglass hood too much. Some persuasive metal work was required on the base to match the profile of the trunk curve, as I recall.
