Have been considering a change to the rear spring/shocks, mainly to lower the rear a little. I have not done any track days, AX/DE with the car. didn't build the car with that as a primary purpose. Street driven, playing on local windy roads and longer trips mostly highway.
The ride does not seem bad now and handling is good, but nothing to compare it to. (914 wise) Current setup. Front : 911 Boge struts with Bilstein insets (not sure if Sport or HD, but they are yellow) Stock 914 torsion bars. Elephant racing rubber bushings. 19mm Tarrett adjustable sway bar. Turbo tie-rods, rebuilt steering rack. Rear : 914-6 springs OEM - 2 yellow dots, I'm thinking 100# springs KYB shocks (yeah I know) Elephant racing rubber bushings. stock rear sway bar. Wheels/tires : front 7" Fuchs w/ 205-50 16s rear 8" Fuchs w/ 225-50 16s My thoughts for the rear spring/shocks are a coil over setup for the adjustability. from Paragon, Elephant or ? Am considering springs in the 125# range. I don't want a real hard ride so 180# + springs are out. Blasting around local usually solo, on trips its passenger + luggage. Shocks also up in the air. only changing the rear. Bilstein Sport or HD or go with the Koni adjustables. If I go with the Koni that would enable a future change in the fronts to matching Koni strut inserts. Guess I really won't know how bad the KYBs are until I put something better on back there. The front sway bar is set about the middle and I haven't played around with it at all. The steering seems pretty neutral now, but it could be the larger tires help it stick. BTW anyone know what the two yellow dot rear springs come out to be? Don't want to come out of this with worse handling. so give me your thoughts and recommendations. |

I would do at least 150lb rears. I like the coilover with adjustable perches, the springs are pretty inexpensive so you can play around.

Then I was considering a lift and watched the QuickJack 5000 video, now I have one of those. Now looking at rear coil overs and I wonder what will happen...….
